We got to hear Coldplay's Yellow, a beautiful Chinese fiddle, and so much more! Piano pieces, vocal collaborations--this first performance had it all. To the right, you can see a quartet (plus pianist Allison!) performing Beauty and the Beast.
Another highlight was a patriotic singalong, where the residents of Juniper and the members of MSC got to sing three old favorites, accompanied by a cello. Amazing Grace was especially... well... amazing!
After all of the performances, we stayed for some conversation with the residents. I met a woman named Dee, who loved music but didn't exactly love the name Dolores. She ended up changing it to Dee as she went through school. It was great to meet someone so bright and full of life in the middle of chilly January.
Before next week, let's start something fun! With every post, and between them, I'll post a Song of the Week. It might be something I heard recently (that's the case this week), or a classic, or something silly. There's so much good music out there; let's find it together!
Listen to the song here!
