Since our last post, we have visited the Oaks nursing home as well as Wynwood house. It was great to return to both of these places and even better to see the residents again to catch up. Our newly-implemented intermission in the middle of our nursing home performances seems to be a hit - we spend ten to fifteen minutes taking a break and getting to know our audience. This lets us really take our time and learn who we're playing for, and it's something we plan to continue!
We also traveled to Hershey in March for our annual trip to the Hershey Medical Center and Ronald McDonald house! 16 members made the trip (with a quick stop at Chocolate World first). The group first played in the Medical Center lobby. There were lots of stellar solo performances and fun collabs, and everyone sitting at the lobby cafe and just passing through seemed to have a smile on their face. It couldn't have gone better!
After playing at the Medical Center, we headed over to the Ronald McDonald House. It was around dinnertime so crowds were low, but near the end of our hour-long performance, we had the privilege to play for a small gathering, including a dad and his two children. Everyone sang "Can't Help Falling in Love," and it was a truly magical moment.
I love baked goods, see you there!
